Renovating the Garden of the Leo Baeck Institute Jerusalem
During Building Bridges Part II in Israel, participants worked together to renovate the garden of the Leo Baeck Institute Jerusalem, a partner institution in the Building Bridges project, and a space used by the Institute’s staff and visitors as well as residents of a neighboring community home.
The group carried out a range of practical tasks, including installing a wooden deck, building a small fish pool, organizing the benches and tables they had constructed, planting trees and plants, and grooming the entire area. Working outdoors over several days, participants exchanged practical knowledge, supported one another throughout the process, and made steady progress on the shared project.
Alongside the physical work, the time spent in the garden allowed for informal conversations and moments of shared enjoyment. As part of the renovation, attention was given to improving accessibility and adapting the space for climate-conscious use, contributing to the long-term development of the Institute’s outdoor premises.
